Kim, a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, is the chair of our Appeals Group and has successfully petitioned the appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court, several federal appellate courts, and the supreme courts of Pennsylvania and Texas, to grant discretionary review. He has presented his arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, as well as before the state appellate courts of California, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Kim's expertise covers a wide range of substantive issues such as those affecting the financial services and managed care industries, class action lawsuits, complex jurisdictional issues, data privacy, product liability, labor and higher education legislation, and constitutional issues. He has also gained significant experience in jury trials and preliminary injunctive relief procedures.
Lauren has processed hundreds of appeals in a variety of areas such as energy litigation, commercial disputes, product liability, labor and labor, health care liability, professional liability, legal and medical negligence, construction litigation and toxic tort. Kim recently obtained a judgment in a pelvic mesh case that confirmed the summary judgment for lack of warning and rejecting an exception to the erudite doctrine of brokering in the Salinero c case. He has represented clients in litigation related to issues of constitutional law (including the First Amendment, the Commerce Clause, and substantive and procedural issues of due process), in addition to advising clients on those issues in governmental, regulatory and administrative matters. He has extensive experience litigating in state and federal courts across the country.
With nearly 30 years of experience as lead counsel in state and federal appellate courts, she prepares briefs and presents oral arguments in court appeals, interlocutory appeals, and original proceedings. Kim is also well-versed in coordinating the practice of “wave motions” which requires filing thousands of summary judgment motions, Daubert motions, and election-of-law motions within a short time frame. He has successfully defended drug and medical device companies in appeals in the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals.
